Old bicycles as decorative Items

If you are operating a coffee shop or doing same business alike, I'm sure you will decorate your coffee shop with flower pots or beautiful pictures. I'm sure you will hung very beautiful picture of yours at a very exclusive spot. You will put your best flower pots at a point where every customers of yours will notice.At times one of your customers will talk ' nice" about your decorations.
    Last week I was introduce by my old friend  a coffee shop in a small town in Perak..This town is famous by its local durians. If you ever taste a Batu Kurau's durian....then you know what I meant.So last Sunday I got myself ordering a plate of koewtiow at this coffee shop. Mind you ....before the fried koewtiow arrived at my table I was very busy taking pictures of old bicycles placed at every Conner's of the shop.

I tried to find the owner of the unique coffee shop but he is not around.

Old Hercules Bicycle.

I search  google a minute ago for information about Hercules bicycle.
Well..It was  a bicycle company from Briton . Founded in 1910 in Aston England.
The name Hercules was chosen for the bicycle name due to its durability and strong character.
By now the company has stop production Hercules bicycle. But before it stop production the company has exported  thousands Hercules bicycle to most of Commonwealth country.
   I got hold one old Hercules bicycle last week. It collected rust to most of its body.The main frame still good so its rims and pedals. It still got chain cover box and head lamp still good and dynamo still generate powers. The mudguards collects  most rust but I think I can handle that. The handle bar got a little rusty but rubber handle grips still had the original.

Old Coins New Coins

When I was in secondary school my English teacher used to ask us to  write essay about our hobbies.

Then she would asked us to read our essay loudly in front of the class. Those days my English was very very horrible.The class always lough at my pronunciation and my horrible grammar.Till today my English still very very horrible because of my lack of communicating in English.

   Ok about my hobby....mind you this was my first effort collecting something that later I just wonder why? why? why coins ? Mind you If you got a hobby , you tend to let the whole world to know that you are joining other people with the same interest. I got hold some coins...new and old but I admit that collecting coins actually there is no fun in it.

Old Seven Up Bicycle

I used to ride one of this long time ago. The seven up bicycles are fun to ride at the time. If you  own new one at that time you can show off to all your friends. It has very unique brass or copper named brand like other bicycles at that time.  It is quite  a heavy bicycle because it was made of  all steel except for its tyres.
You still can see some old timers riding one of this around old housing area.
Its now becomes a collectors item because it is hard to find one in a bicycle shops.

Blue and white china - Soup bowl

Not many of us had the opportunity to have or own an antique china.
I feel lucky to have a few to my collections. If I were to buy them.....it will cost me a fortune.
Antique china is very expensive to make one a hobby. One single genuine antique blue and white china will cost a few thousand ringgit.And then you will have to be good enough to distinguish them if it is antique or just a duplicate or modern china. Most of antique china are hand made and the blue decoration are hand painted with cobalt oxide imported from Iran or Iraq..( Persia to be exact) .

Some friends of mine start collecting old bikes made from England and Germany.
They will find time and effort bicycle hunting.
They will find time going to kampung kampungs searching for old and antique bike.
To look for antique bike maybe it is too difficult to find because it is make 100 years old to be classified antique..further more most of us will throw away old broken bike.
I would like to show you here how far they will go to collects old bike.
Usually they will search google.But most off the time they go hunting at bicycle shop at small kampungs.
Sometimes they swap with each other who share same interests.
And few are willing going to the globe searching ...
And me prefer the safe side....driving around kampung kampungs searching old bikes.

Blue and White China

Every time we discuss about porcelain or pottery we cannot help ourselves discuss or talk about china.
China porcelain or China had it own famed...
Every antique collectors try their best to own one or two Chinese porcelain or pottery..
The famous china or porcelain came from Ming dynasty and Qing Dynasty.Although other Dynasty own their best.
The blue and White porcelain from China are the most search one. The blue decoration which are made from cobalt oxide are imported from Iraq or Iran .They are hand painted on  the pottery and later glaze are put on and fire once.
Now days the "qing-hua" or blue flower  are not painted by hands..The design or flower are applied by stencilling or transfer printing...And they looked exactly the same.

Antique porcelain plate

I kept this plate for 36 years.
I got it from a makcik in Kuala Terengganu in 1978.
Those year you can find many old and antique things if you know the right place and the right people to ask.
This antique porcelain plate is made in Holland.I've been wondering ever since how this makcik had a lot of this plates imported from Holland.Most people at that time are buying porcelain imported from China.
   I never see any picture or photo of this plate in Internet or any other antique shops. Most antique shop only put on display their porcelains or China  made in China.. I didn't really know the value of this antique plate.so I prefer to keep it for a while.But if someone interested  at it...I willing to part with it if the price is " right".

I got this antique blue and white container jar from an elderly woman in Kuala Terengganu in 1978.
It got a little crack at the bottom of it but its ok. I kept it ever since without knowing its value.
When I was in Kuching Sarawak twenty years ago I happened to see one of this complete with container lid.
in an antique shop.Its for sales for few hundreds ringgit..
And now I willing to part with it for RM800.00

Old Raleigh Bicycle

Lets me show you a real and genuine old Raleigh bicycle.

Before that how are we to identify that a bicycle is really old.. Ok..an old bicycle usually collects rust to all its iron and steel body frame..The paint work is no longer looks good.. The saddle is made of real leather.And the brands name badge is made of copper , steel or aluminium.

The body frame is made of tough steel and all joints are welded together using interlocking technique.

The rims is made of stainless steel and don't rust easily.

   Some of the old Raleigh bicycle brakes consist of drums and saddle and the headlamp had a antique look.

Old Japanese Postman Bicycle

This is my new found hobby.( mind my English)...
Collecting old bikes , porcelain or china.
Sometimes I would like to sell it or share it with you.
When I was young I had started collecting old coins but now I lost interest with it because of ...you know I cannot gain anything from it and furthermore its cost me alot.
Ok...
I would like to share with you here some of my collections...oops..They are on my hand phones.....Ok I'll put up the pictures of them later..
My staff show me some of his bikes collection and it makes me wonder..why not I joined him collecting old bikes too...Then so and so I end up with buying an old postmen bike imported from japan.Its look cool.All amber red. Stainless steel handle bar and brakes.It got unique big bell too.

Later yesterday I bought one old Hercule's ladies bike..It got rust here and there.
The bike still can be use....It got new tires but both rims seems got rust everywhere.
It got small bell and stainless steel front lamp.The dynamo still working and the mudguard needs a little cleaning job.The chains and gears seem ok so the pedals Both hand brakes needs repair and The seat..the leather seat a bit worn out...so it need to be replace.

You know...most of old bicycle's are imported from England.
There are Raleigh,hercules,robin hood, seven up,humber  Hudson and so on...
They made up of good steel and iron and can last very long.
Most of the brands you can find now but as we know new bicycle could not last long.After few years of usage they tend to break up  and needs repair jobs
